Mission Work at CPC
Compassion and caring drive the mission work of Christ Presbyterian Church.
Lifehouse and the Ecumenical Association for Housing
On the west side of the Christ Presbyterian Church property sits a 12 unit afford-able housing complex for developmentally disabled adults. This facility, opened in 1981, is a partnership between CPC, Lifehouse, and the Ecumenical Association for Housing (EAH). CPC provides the land, EAH manages the property, and Lifehouse works with the residents. The long-term lease of the land in effect subsidizes the rent of each resident set at 30% of their Social Security Benefit.
Rotating Emergency Shelter Team
Since 2009 Christ Presbyterian Church has been involved in the countywide effort to provide emergency overnight shelter for those who are without housing. For two years, we opened our doors once a week and welcomed up to 20 women to sleep on our sanctuary floor. In partnership with other community members, we continue to provide dinner once a week to shelter participants.
Once a month members of Christ Presbyterian lead a worship service for residents of The Rafael, a skilled nursing facility.
CPC is a big supporter of this program. The Canal Alliance has served our community for 35 years with the following goals.
Vision – Build a pathway to success for immigrant families to overcome poverty and injustice, so they can become tomorrow’s leaders.
Mission – We help low-income, Spanish-speaking immigrants acquire the tools they need to thrive.
Strategy – Because people living in poverty face significant personal challenges, Canal Alliance utilizes a wraparound strategy that includes a full range of services designed to help people overcome barriers to the acquisition of the tools they need to thrive.
Boy Scouts of America
Christ Presbyterian has chartered Troop 76 and Cub Pack 76 for more than fifty years. The Crew, a co-ed older youth arm of the BSA, was chartered in 2010. We are proud that these groups have an inclusive and nondiscrim-inatory membership policy. The troop meets in our facility rent free.
Marin Interfaith Council
Strengthens religious communities and builds respectful relationships between religious communities. CPC is a member organization.
Four Elements Earth Education
Christ Presbyterian has partnered with Four Elements Earth Education (4EEE) to provide a 3-day community nature camp. The purpose of the camp is to guide youth and their families towards a pure connection with the earth and with God through direct nature experiences. CPC subsidizes the cost of this program.
Marin Food Bank
Last year the Food Bank distributed 2 million pounds of food in Marin County. We support the Food Bank through food collection, volunteers, and monetary donation.
Westminster Woods (WW) purpose is to build meaningful relationships -with Christ, one another, and creation in a redwood forest. Each year we send five youth and developmentally disabled adults to WW’s week long summer camps. We support WW’s ministry through scholarship assistance and providing our pastor for one week of camp.
Christ Presbyterian helps families in our community who have lost loved ones, providing pastoral care and support.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
Each spring we take a special offering (One Great Hour of Sharing) to support Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. When a disaster strikes our money arrives within days to assist people around the world. In the last year PDA money was at work in Europe (Refugee Crisis), Equador (Earthquake) and Madagascar (Flooding). In the U.S. aid went to Tennessee (Wildfires), W. Virginia (Floods), Tornadoes and Wildfires across our country.
Shared Mission Support of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
